An innovative and disruptive brand, Compass Box champions the development of new and exciting blends of whisky. A part of this innovation is running the Compass Box – The Circle competition.

THE CHALLENGE

With seven fantastic bartenders from around the world taking part, the competition showcases their talents in the race to develop the Circle Blend, a blended whisky developed in a collaboration between the winning bartender and Compass Box. Alongside this, we needed to develop visuals for labels and an identity board.

THE SOLUTION

We collaborated with two bartenders to create distinct visual concepts for their whisky blends. Each design reflected the unique characteristics of the blends, such as taste, smell, and colour.

For Mannie Monaghan, the blend had herbaceous and savoury notes, inspiring a lab-style design with a minimal colour palette and infographics to encourage experimentation and self-discovery.

For Rob Scott, whose blend evoked nostalgia with buttery French patisserie and grains, we designed a label inspired by his French heritage. A rustic colour palette with a touch of gold created a warm, homely feel.
